Axelle Frames began in 1995 as a frameshop for the hi end art galleries within the same corporation www.bdgny.com & www.axelle.com however, we offer our expertise to the public and artists alike. We have thousands of molding samples to choose from and can frame any kind of artwork. Our staff consists of artisans with years of framing and art handling experience. We specialize in archival framing with the longevity and integrity of the piece in mind. Axelle Frames will find the right frame for any piece or budget. We also offer local delivery, and can custom build crates and ship worldwide. Free quotes are available via email, phone or in person. Monday- Friday 9AM- 5PM

How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I finished my art degree in 1998 and wanted a day job in my field of passion, art. That was a different time, when jobs were found in the newspaper. Entry level jobs in the art world were hard to come by, I got lucky and was taught the basics of framing when I still had the mindset of a student. As an artists I viewed framing as the final touch in the creative process. My skills as an artist have enhanced my framing capabilities, just as my framing experience helps with my own artistic creations. Both require extreme patience, attention to detail and knowledge of all types of material & substrates.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Axelle Frames works directly with artists. Most retail frame-shops frame posters, kids artwork, and family photos. Although we frame these types of works too, we specialize in archival framing, which means we only use acid free materials and techniques designed to preserve and prolong the life of original artwork and prints. Axelle Frames provides framing for 3 major galleries under the same ownership, and is accustomed to dealing with artists and a variety of mediums on a daily basis. Our staff consists of artists with years of framing and art handling experience. Framing could be called their "day job" but each framer is passionate about art whether it is creating their own artworks or framing for clients. Another major difference between us and other frame-shops is we that offer local deliveries and can build custom crates and ship artwork worldwide all right here at our facility.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location that serves as our corporate headquarters, retail design center, framing production as well as our shipping department. We service our 2 galleries in Manhattan and another in Boston from our Brooklyn Hub. We do not plan on expanding to other locations as we still have room for growth within this facility.
